Silivia Almagia is Director of Software and Standards at ETSI, where she is leading a team of experts in charge of setting up and growing collaborative software development groups and open source initiatives in support of standardization, such as SDG OpenSlice, OpenCAPIF, OpenOP, TeraFlowSDN and Open Source MANO. Before this position, she was a Technical Expert in the ETSI Centre for Testing and Interoperability, responsible for Interoperability Programmes and Proof-of-Concept Frameworks (NFV, MEC, ZSM, …). Prior to joining ETSI, Silvia worked in the design and development of software-based carrier grade solutions enabling 4G Services, Operations Support Systems and Network Management Solutions.

Uwe Baeder Director of International Relations, Rohde & Schwarz
Uwe Baeder studied physics and electrical engineering and holds a physics diploma from the University of Kaiserslautern. He joined Rohde & Schwarz in 2000 as standards engineer for radio communication tester. He represented Rohde & Schwarz in various international standardization groups for wireless communications and oversaw the company’s presence on these committees. His interest was especially focused in the standardization of an IMT-2000 and IMT-Advanced system within the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Here he contributed to the development of the test specifications, which are a basis for radio regulation of wireless communication devices. At the same time, he was leading an international team for the development of certification tests for WCDMA/HSDPA, eCall, EWTS, LTE radio protocols including IMS and IoT standards like eMTC and NB-IoT. He is now Director of International Relations ITU/UN and acts for Rohde & Schwarz towards these institutions in general.

David Boswarthick Director of Strategy & Innovation, European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)
David Boswarthick is the ETSI Director of Strategy and Innovation, where he is responsible for tracking and capturing ICT research & development activities that are ripe for standardization. He devotes himself to new business / technology development and the creation of strong links and enablers towards R&D, academia, National, EU, global research projects and the creation of new or enhanced standards groups in ETSI. David has more than 30 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector, which includes over 25 years’ working in ICT standardization supporting both 3GPP and ETSI Technical groups as well as Board level strategic initiatives. ETSI is a non-profit organization with more than 900 member organizations worldwide, drawn from 64 countries and five continents. Members include the world’s leading companies and innovative R&D organizations. ETSI is officially recognized by the European Union as a European Standards Organization. ETSI produces globally-applicable standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), including fixed, mobile, radio, broadcast, cybersecurity and Internet.

Weiqiang Cheng Head of the AIDC Network Team, China Mobile Research Institute, China
Weiqiang Cheng has long been engaged in technical research and standardization of Ethernet and IP networks. At ITU T, he has contributed to the MTN interface standards and wokeded as an editor of G.8312. At IETF, he has participated in SRv6 standard work and is an editor of RFC 9800. His recent research focuses on AIDC networks.

Debora Comparin Standardization Expert, Thales Group, France
Debora Comparin is Standardization Expert at Thales Digital Identity & Security, founder and chair of the OSIA Initiative, co-founder of SIDI Hub and Advisory Board member of the Linux Foundation Europe. Within ITU-T Study Group 17, Debora serves as the chair of Working Party 1 “Digital identity, Quantum based security, PKI and Fundamental security technologies”. She is a strong advocate for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.9 ‘Identity for all by 2030’ and in 2019 founded the OSIA initiative, a public-private sector partnership to build interoperability for national identity infrastructures. OSIA is recognized as an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standard by its 193 governments.In 2023 Debora co-founded SIDI Hub, a platform for standard organizations, governments and non-profits to define a solution for cross-border digital Identity interoperability. Today, Debora is a Tech Policy Fellow at UC Berkeley where she is analyzing how secure hardware platform(s) technology aligns with policy requirements to ensure the security of digital wallets.
She holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from University of Padova.

Vince FerrittiSenior Standards Manager, Global Technical & Industry Standards, Corning Incorporated, United States (Remote)Vince Ferretti, Senior Standards Manager, Global Technical & Industry Standards, is responsible for the development, coordination and communication of Corning’s standards strategy across Corning’s optical fiber, cabling, connectivity and wireless systems and products. Vince joined Corning in 1993 and has extensive experience in product management, engineering, sales, marketing, market development and strategy, while working in a diverse and global environment. His roles within Corning have spanned Corning’s Japan, OEM, carrier and enterprise market segments, the majority spent in FTTH, Wireless and LAN applications. He joined Corning’s Standards team in 2018. Vince currently represents Corning and the United States as Assistant Secretary of TC 86, and in IEC SC86A (Fiber and Cable), IEC SC86C (Sensors), IEC SC46 JW8 (Hybrid Cables), and ISCO TC22 SC32 WG10 (Automotive Optical Connectivity). He is the liaison officer between IEC SC86A and IEEE 802.3, IEC SC86C and ITU-T SG15, and IEC TC86 and ISO TC22 SC32. He manages Corning participation in IEEE 802.3 study groups/task forces (Optical Access and Ethernet Transport Systems). Vince serves as Promotion and Coordination Vice-Chair and Associate Rapporteur of Q5 for ITU-T Study Group 15. He actively participates in the following ITU-T Questions (Q2, Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8). Prior to joining Corning, Vince was an US Naval officer and nuclear engineer serving in the US submarine force. |
Christian Hoymann Vice-President, Standardization & Industry Initiatives, Europe, Ericsson, Germany
Christian Hoymann holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration. He joined Ericsson Research in 2007, where he worked on cellular communication systems starting with 4G, including the full life cycle of 5G, all the way to the early stages of 6G. As Head of Ericsson's 3GPP delegation Christian was responsible for the radio standardization of the Ericsson Group. In 2023, Christian Hoymann joined Ericsson’s CTO office and is now responsible for Ericsson’s standard activities in Europe. Christian is highly engaged in the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), where he is a Board Member and active in various other initiatives.

Hideyuki Iwata President, Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC), Japan
Dr. Hideyuki IWATA is now CEO and S.V.P. of TTC (The Telecommunication Technology Committee), Japan from 2021. He joined NTT(Nippon Telegraph and Telephone corporation) in 1991. He contributed to be commercialized of underground 1000 optical fiber cable and SZ stranded slot aerial optical fiber cable for FTTH (Fiber To The home). He has been in charge of standardization at the NTT Group for many years. Hideki Nishizawa is an IOWN Open APN task force coordinator and TIP Open Optical & Packet Transport Disaggregated Optical Systems group co-leader Hideki Nishizawa received B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from Chiba University, Chiba, Japan, in 1994 and 1996, respectively. In 1996, he joined NTT Laboratories, Japan, where he has been engaged in research on open and disaggregated optical systems. He also takes on the role of IOWN Open APN task force coordinator and TIP Open Optical & Packet Transport Disaggregated Optical Systems group co-leader. This year he received PhD in engineering for automatic optical wavelength path provisioning and control technology for data center exchange services from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan.

Seizo OnoeDirector, Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, ITUSeizo Onoe took office as Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on 1 January 2023. Known in the industry as “the father of LTE” (Long-Term Evolution mobile broadband), he now aims for global outreach to bridge standardization gaps, deliver the benefits of technology widely and speedily, and ensure meaningful and affordable broadband access for everyone. Before his election as TSB Director by ITU Member States, he completed an over 30-year career with Japanese mobile operator NTT DOCOMO. In 2021, he became Executive Vice President and Chief Standardization Strategy Officer for NTT Corporation and a Fellow of NTT DOCOMO. From 2017, he served as NTT DOCOMO’s Chief Technology Architect and President of its subsidiary DOCOMO Technology. From 2012 to 2017, he served as NTT DOCOMO’s Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President, a Member of the Board of Directors, and Managing Director of R&D Innovation Division. Earlier, he served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of NTT DOCOMO’s R&D Strategy Department and Managing Director of the company’s Radio Network Development Department. Mr Onoe holds a Master’s degree in electronics from the Kyoto University Graduate School of Engineering. |
