ITU-T Industry Engagement Workshop 2026: Making industry successful through standardization

The Interna​tional Telecommunication Union (ITU)  organized  the "ITU-T Industry Engagement Workshop 2026: Making industry successful through standardization" on 27 March 2026 in Sophia Antipolis, FranceThe workshop was kindly hosted by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)​ at its headquarters and took place in the Athena Amphi, meeting room.

Building on the momentum of the first Industry Engagement Workshop in 2024​, this second edition examined how standardization can better enable industry success in an increasingly digital and software-driven environment. The workshop explored how ITU-T can continue to support emerging digital technologies and ecosystems. Discussions  highlighted industry needs, practical deployment experiences, and new collaboration models that strengthen the impact, and adoption of ITU-T standards.​

The workshop featured keynote addresses from senior standardization and industry leaders.The workshop concluded with a summary of key messages, outcomes, and proposed next steps to further strengthen ITU-T’s engagement with industry.​

Objectives of the workshop:​
 Representatives from the private sector organizations from all regions and of all sizes, active or interested in ITU-T and the development of international standards were invited to particpate. In-person participation was open to all interested stakeholders, including ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic institutions, and to any individual from a country that is a member of ITU.​ Participation in the workshop was free of charge.
