Driven by the rapid progress in AI research, we will in the near future see large parts of our lives influenced by Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI innovation will be central to the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will help in solving humanity's grand challenges by capitalizing on the unprecedented quantities of data now being generated on human health, commerce, communications, transportation, migration and more. It is therefore important that all stakeholders work together to evaluate the opportunities presented by AI, ensuring that AI benefits all of humanity. In this context, the ITU briefing will provide an overview of the recent trends in AI technology, challenges and opportunities, while highlighting the great promise that AI holds for advancing the SDGs.

The briefing will also provide an update on the preparation of the “AI for Good Global Summit”, to be held at the ITU HQs in Geneva, from 7 to 9 June 2017, organized by ITU and the XPRIZE Foundation, in partnership with our UN sister agencies, namely UNIDO, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNITAR, UNICRI, OHCHR, UN Global Pulse, WIPO, and ILO.

All are invited to attend. Participants without a UN grounds pass, please apply in advance to attend.
