Fellowships for ITU-R events

Fellowship eligibility

Recognizing the difficulties faced by least-developed and low-income countries, and within the available budget, fellowships may be granted for certain ITU-R events. When available, one fellowship is offered per eligible Member State, i.e. Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and low-income countries with a GDP per capita of less than 2,000 USD (with priority to LDCs). For some regional ITU-R events, fellowships may only be offered to delegates representing Member States of a specific region.  The decision criteria to grant a fellowship include: available budget, equitable distribution among countries and regions, and gender balance.

Fellowships are not available for the Radiocommunication Assembly (RA), the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), the Radiocommunication Advisory Group (RAG) or for ITU-R study group events.

How to register to the event and submit a fellowship request

    1. Register to the event through your Designated Focal Point (DFP) for ITU-R event registrationThe DFP of a delegate wishing to request a fellowship should tick the "Fellowship Request" box included on the online event registration form. Online registration to the event, through the corresponding DFP, is a prerequisite to submit a fellowship request.
    2. Upon processing of the registration request by the ITU, a pre-filled fellowship request form will be emailed directly to the delegate applying for a fellowship.  The delegate's email address provided during the online registration process will be used for that purpose.
    3. The fellowship request form should be signed and approved by a duly authorized officer of the Administration; the official stamp of the Administration must also be applied.
    4. It is the responsibility of each delegate to ensure that the duly completed, signed and approved form is submitted, before the deadline, to the ITU Fellowships Unit at fellowships@itu.int or by fax to +41 22 730 5778
