ITU and FCDO Collaboration

ITU and FCDO Collaboration

ITU and the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have partnered to co-design a far-reaching digital inclusion project.

The project seeks to effect positive change and support innovation in regulation and relevant institutional capacity, inclusive technology and business models, connectivity financing options, digital skills, and capacity development approaches.

The ITU-FCDO project aims to bridge the digital divide through improving school connectivity in underserved areas and provide technical assistance in the five FCDO Digital Access Programme (DAP) countries: Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa.

Major gaps remain in all five countries in terms of affordability and access to connectivity and this project will leverage ITU’s technical expertise as well as ITU's extensive stakeholder and partner network to close the gap through initiatives like Giga and the Digital Skills for Jobs Campaign.

ITU and the FCDO aim to complement each other's activities, programmes and goals in relation to school and community connectivity and digital skills development.
