Webinar – Reimagining the Future of Cities: AI, Virtual Worlds and the Citiverse

Draft description
This webinar, held as part of the ITU Digital Transformation Dialogues and co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Education and Capacity Building Working Group of the Living-in.EU initiative, will introduce the citiverse concept to city administrations, public authorities, and digital innovation stakeholders, including the Living-in.EU community. It will provide an overview of the citiverse vision, its defining characteristics, and its potential value for cities and communities. It will highlight how the citiverse goes beyond existing digital tools by enabling more immersive, participatory, and people-centred approaches to cities’ digital transformation.
Participants will gain clarity on the citiverse and how it can support cities in exploring new ways to engage inhabitants, support spatial planning, and experiment with digital innovation. The webinar will also spotlight the ongoing work of the Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds and AI – Discovering the Citiverse, supported by more than 70 partners worldwide.
The webinar will be structured in two parts: a presentation segment introducing the citiverse concept and its applications, followed by an interactive segment featuring quizzes, questions, and discussion to help participants better understand how their cities can engage with and benefit from the citiverse in practice.
Key objectives:
- Build a clear understanding of what is the citiverse.
- Recognise how cities can engage with citiverse, including available pathways for participation and collaboration.
- Identify the relevance of citiverse for city administrations, particularly in relation to capacity-building, participatory decision-making, and support for digital innovation.
- Gain insight into available support and opportunities linked to the citiverse, such as shared approaches, global initiatives, interoperability considerations, technical guidance, and links to European-level developments.
