ITU-T Recommendations Y.3075 and Y.3083 provide the basic description of the elastic control plane in information-centric networking (ICN). This Recommendation specifies the requirements and establishes the framework of elastic control plane in ICN in networks beyond IMT-2020. ITU-T Y.3083 indicates that ICN requires elastic control plane to support instant readdressing, routing, flexible resource and network status supervision and maintenance. Thus, this Recommendation specifies the detailed requirements from both low‑latency control and scalable control perspectives. The framework is based on the architecture of ICN routing and forwarding defined in ITU-T Y.3075, and introduces capabilities of both central and local control plane. This framework supports low‑latency and scalable control of the data plane.
