We kindly invite you to complete the form below to express your support. The Pledge will be officially launched at the COP31 High-level Green Digital Action Roundtable on AI on 16 November.Section 1 – Organization InformationPlease provide your organization’s contact details.Organization Name(Required)Organization Type(Required)Select oneGovernmentPrivate sectorUniversityCivil society organizationOtherCountry / Sector(Required)Contact Person(Required)Email Address(Required) Section 1A – Antalya Artificial Intelligence PledgeAntalya Artificial Intelligence PledgeWe, Parties and non-Party stakeholders — businesses, investors, financial institutions, research institutions, international organisations, cities and subnational governments, and civil society organisations — as Signatories of the Antalya Artificial Intelligence Pledge:Recognising that artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in everyday technologies, services and infrastructure, already supports mitigation, adaptation and resilience and can accelerate climate policy implementation and scale up solutions. Digital innovations can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support adaptation across economic sectors when properly used and governed;Noting that AI’s growing demand for electricity, computing infrastructure, water, land, and critical materials, with electricity consumption from AI-focused data centres significantly rising by 50% in 20251, and the need to design, develop, deploy and manage AI sustainably across their value chain and lifecycle, including the responsible reduction and management of e-waste;Recognising the opportunities and challenges faced by developing countries, including least developed countries and small island developing states, in accessing, building or developing data, digital infrastructure, computing capacity, finance, technology and skills required to harness AI for climate action for mitigation, adaptation, and resilience, and emphasising that inclusive access to finance, data, computing capacity and skills is essential if all countries are to use AI for climate action and share its benefits;Recalling decisions 1/CMA.5, paragraph 109, and 9/CP.28, paragraphs 6–8, concerning the Technology Mechanism’s AI for Climate Action initiative implemented by the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), as well as the 2024 COP29 Declaration on Green Digital Action2 and the Belém Technology Implementation Programme at COP303 and other international agreements4;Recognising the importance of measurement and reporting in assessing progress towards the objectives of this Pledge, and the need to progressively develop common methodologies and strengthen the necessary technical infrastructure and capacities through international cooperation and financial, technical and in-kind support, in line with national circumstances and capabilities;Affirming that these objectives of the pledge are voluntary and non-prescriptive, create no new obligations, and are to be implemented in accordance with national circumstances, sustainable development priorities and national legislation, including on data sharing and disclosure;Declare our shared ambition to make AI part of the climate solution – sustainably powered, efficiently designed, transparently measured and available to all – and to this end commit to strengthening international cooperation and knowledge-sharing, and to the following actions, taking into account our national circumstances and capabilities, as well as sustainability priorities:1. Power and build AI infrastructure and hardware sustainably, for example by: increasing the share of AI and data-centre infrastructure powered by zero- and low-emission energy; integrating sustainability by design in data-centre development and operation, including efficient cooling, and energy and water efficiency; supporting the effective integration of AI and data-centre infrastructure into electricity grids so that associated increases in electricity demand can be met sustainably; appropriately allocating infrastructure costs associated with data-centre development, including electricity transmission upgrades; 2. Design, manage or procure AI responsibly across its lifecycle, for example by: applying internationally recognised, consensus-based multistakeholder standards and frameworks on the environmental sustainability of AI when developing, procuring and deploying AI systems5; and adopting circular approaches to AI infrastructure and hardware, including responsible decommissioning, reuse, recycling and e-waste management;3. Support assessment and reporting of the environmental impacts of AI systems, for example by: promoting international cooperation to strengthen the technical infrastructure and capacities needed for assessing the environmental impacts of AI systems using internationally recognised, consensus-based multistakeholder standards; and facilitating the sharing of implementation results and data in accordance with national circumstances and legislation;4. Strengthen financial support and technical infrastructure for AI for climate action, for example by: mobilising financial, technical and in-kind support – including enhanced and equitable access to computing capacity, data, training and concessional support – for developing and scaling AI solutions for mitigation, adaptation and resilience, particularly in developing countries, least developed countries and small island developing States. Applications may address local needs in emissions reductions, renewable energy, energy-system optimisation and efficiency, sustainable transport, industrial decarbonisation, emissions monitoring and measurement, reporting and verification, as well as climate-resilient agriculture, water and food security, disaster risk reduction, early warning and other adaptation priorities; From Antalya, we commit to move from recognition of priorities to implementation. As an initial step, we identify our selected voluntary commitments in the following respective annex, in accordance with our capacities and national circumstances and sustainability priorities. We invite cooperation through the International Telecommunication Union-convened Green Digital Action initiative, in collaboration with the Technology Mechanism and other relevant UNFCCC bodies and pertinent UN initiatives, to progressively review and showcase progress under this Pledge (including the respective Annex); inviting signatories to take stock of collective progress during each UNFCCC Conference of the Parties until 2030, starting with COP32. The review and implementation process will be supported by the relevant thematic forums, such as the AI Summits, and AI for Good Global Summits. These milestones may also be used to share experience, advance methodological work, identify international standards, frameworks and requirements that support the implementation needs and priorities, and progressively shape implementation pathways. We call on all relevant stakeholders to join the Antalya Artificial Intelligence Pledge, and welcome additional commitments, partnerships and initiatives that contribute to its implementation.ImportantSelect only the commitments your organization intends to make.
