High-Level Seminar on Space for Development
31 August – 2 September 2026 – Shanghai Expo Center, Shanghai, China

Jointly organized by the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau (BR) and China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), this three‑day Seminar — held at the venue of WRC‑27 — will examine how accelerating space development can drive economic opportunity and social benefits worldwide.

Key discussions will explore the role of satellite broadband, Earth observation, disaster response and climate services; the management of finite radio‑frequency spectrum and satellite orbits; outcomes of WRC‑23 and preparations for WRC‑27; and international cooperation, regulatory and technical approaches. The programme features keynote addresses, panels, case studies and capacity‑building sessions geared to officials and experts from developing countries.

This event is essential for policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, space agencies, academia and international organizations seeking to advance equitable, efficient and sustainable use of space resources. Participation is open to ITU Members, Sector Members, Associates and other stakeholders.
