3 1 1 Existing information analysis
To have a reference framework and to implement the Recommendation, existing information
from primary and secondary sources was reviewed. The sources of information consulted and
analysed were the following:
1) National policy and legislation in force issued by the National Congress and the Executive
Power, from which the current legal and management framework was identified.
2) Database of EEE imports and exports for the period 2010–2020 produced by the National
Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), from which the number of trade codes in force
in the country was obtained, imports and exports behaviour over time was analysed as
was the behaviour of imports and exports of EEE and WEEE, and the tracers for the study
were selected.
3) Database of waste managers in 2021, an internal analysis performed within the PREAL
project. 25
4) The 2010 national census and sociodemographic projections developed by the National
Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), from which the sociodemographic and
economic indicators of Argentina were obtained. 26
25 The PREAL project has not been finalized, so the information arising from it has not been published officially
at the time of writing this paper.
26 The latest census was conducted on 18 May 2022, and final census results are expected by the end of the
year. At the time of the census, data analysis was already completed.
