WG 1 – Smart Cable Television requirements and use cases (Coordinator: Satoshi Miyaji)
WG 1 is responsible for high-level requirements per the FG Terms of Reference and use cases that have relevancy to the context of Smart Cable Television. WG 1 is intended to be more associated with the service provision point of view vs deployed or future equipment point of view, where the study and discussion should not be affected by the availability of realization technologies.
WG 2 – Advanced Transport Technology, including IoT/M2M (Coordinator: Gale Lightfoot)
The study results of WG 1 will precede the work of other WGs and will contribute - to a large degree but not necessarily exclusively - the objectives that other technical WGs (WG 2 through WG 5) will develop and/or discover technical solutions to satisfy the terms of reference requirements.
The identified outputs of WG 1 are:
WG 1 will also define FG/WGs relationships to other bodies identified in output number 3.
- High level service requirements related to Smart Cable TV
- Collection of use cases of services provided under the context of Smart Cable TV
- A living list of relevant SDOs, forums, consortia, academic institutions, research institutes and other companies that could contribute to the work of the FG SmartCable
WG 2 is responsible for developing responses to the Terms of Reference and input from WG1 for transport technology needed to support Smart Cable TV.
WG 3 – Content and application delivery including security (Coordinator: Han-Seung Koo)
The identified outputs of WG 2 are:
- Advanced transport technology, including IoT/M2M, for Smart Cable TV
WG 4 – User interface and accessibility (Coordinator: Pradipta Biswas)
WG 3 is responsible for addressing content and application delivery including security issues that are identified by WG 1 within the scope of FG SmartCable. Content and application delivery via hybrid networks and their linkage information is also a responsibility of this WG.
The identified outputs of WG 3 are:
- Content and application delivery including security for Smart Cable TV
WG4 is tasked with addressing user interface issues for Smart Cable TV services that are discovered by WG1 and providing possible solutions for development and adoption as eventual Recommendations under SG9’s auspices. Consideration of accessibility by the elderly or reduced-capacity users is also a responsibility of this WG.
WG 5 – Multi screen and mobile devices (Coordinator: Jingfei Cui)
The identified outputs of WG 4 are:
- User interface and accessibility for Smart Cable TV
WG 5 is tasked with multi-screen and mobile device related issues that are identified by WG 1 within the scope of FG SmartCable and provides possible solutions for future consideration as Recommendations in SG 9.
WG 6 – Editorial and terminology (Coordinator: Tom Russell)
The identified outputs of WG 5 are:
- Multi-screen and mobile devices for Smart Cable TV
WG 6’s main task is to collect and compile the outputs of the other WGs and produce the final deliverables of the FG SmartCable , ensuring that all aspects of the deliverables per the terms of reference are addressed. WG 6 will also be responsible for developing definitions of terminology specific to the FG.
The identified outputs of WG 6 are:
- Terminology for Smart Cable TV
