Mamello THINYANE

​​ Mamello Thinyane is passionate about the potential of scientific research and technology innovation to contribute to the achievement of sustainable good life for all.

He is a Principal Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society, where he leads research within the Data and Sustainable Development group, formerly the Small Data Lab. His work focuses on the role of data and technology for enhancing the engagement and participation of civil society stakeholders towards the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Before joining UNU, Mamello was an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa, as well as the Director for the Telkom Centre of Excellence in ICT for Development at the same institute.

He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Technology in Human Services and a Conference Co-chair for the 11th International Development Informatics Association (IDIA2020) conference. Mamello holds a PhD in Computer Science from Rhodes University.
