Benjamín Barán

Prof. Benjamín Barán received a degree in Electronic Engineering (1983) from National University of Asunción - Paraguay, a M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (1987) at Northeastern University - U.S.A. and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science (1993) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. He is Senior member of IEEE. With 3 decades of teaching and research experience at several universities, he received the Paraguayan Science Award in 1996 and the Pan-American Prize of Scientific Computing in 2012, among a dozen of international awards recognizing his contribution of more than two hundred papers. He was President of the Latin American Center on Informatics Studies - CLEI (2004 - 2008) and Research Coordinator at the National Computing Center (CNC) of the National University of Asunción (1994 – 2007). Dr. Barán is President of CBA S.A. and Dean of the Computer School at Universidad Comunera in Paraguay. His research interests focused on Cloud Computing, Evolutionary Computation, Multi-Objective Optimization, Optical Networks and recently, on Quantum Computers and Data Science.
