Irene Kamara

Ikamara_oic.jpgIrene Kamara is a PhD candidate and researcher at the Research Group on Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and attorney at law before the Court of Appeal and member of the Athens Bar Association. Irene is experienced in protection of personal data, liability, intellectual property rights, contract law and standardisation. She holds an advanced Master Degree in International and European Studies and a Master in Law and Technology (LL.M) from the University of Tilburg (cum laude).

Her previous work experience includes the Legal Council of the Greek State and law offices in Greece. Irene completed traineeships at the Legal Affairs Department of the European Standardisation Organisations CEN and CENELEC (2013) and the IT Policy team of the European Data Protection Supervisor (2014), working on the broader topics of contractual liability, copyright, protection of personal data in cloud computing and mobile devices.

She is currently conducting research in the framework of the FP7 CRISP project on Evaluation and Certification Schemes for Security products. Her research interests include privacy and data protection and emerging technologies, standardisation and certification, contractual liability.​
