Mr. Ramos was appointed Regional Director for the Americas Regional Office of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in April 2013. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Escola Politécnica from Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and he has a MSc Degree in Electronic Engineering and a Post-Graduation in Telecommunications Regulation at the University of Brasilia (UnB). Mr. Ramos’ entire career has been concentrated in the telecommunication industry. He worked as Senior Engineer at TELESP (Telecom Operator in São Paulo, Brazil) and TELEBRÁS (National Telecom Operator in Brazil), and, for 16 years, at Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), most recently as Superintendent of Data, Mobile & Satellite Communication. He was Vice-Chairman for ITU-T Study Groups from 2000 – 2013, as well as Head of Brazilian Delegation for many Conferences of the ITU, including Plenipotentiaries Conferences and for WCIT-2012 in Dubai.
