CHOI Hoerim

Hoerim joined KT (Korea Telecom) in 2012 and spent most of his career on developing and deploying IMS(IP multimedia subsystem) for VoIP service on national scale.

He has since worked for the past 7 years in the technology strategy office, analyzing various trends in major industries, building technology strategy based on insights gained and designing future business and service cases aligned with strategy.

He is also affiliated with GSMA in PSMC (Products and Services Management Committee) and Network2020 programme in various capacities and recently began to participate in ITU-T SG16 activities as an associate rapporteur.

He received his BS & MS in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.​

 

 

Title of presentation: Immersive Live Experience – KT Use Cases/Services

While it still remains a red hot buzzword in the mobile industry and quite early in standardization effort, 5G is already on fast track to showcase its key features on field in near future. Having established its own eco around the technology, KT, one of the leading operators in 5G, plans to launch a series of 5G services including immersive media as a trial for upcoming Winter Olympics 2018. We will specifically explore a few features of its 5G services with immersive live experience and learn operator’s perspectives on the subject. In addition, an overview of SG16 and a brief review of recent MWC 2017 will be shared at the end to discuss what to make of them.
