Is the unit Chief for UNIDO’s Stockholm Convention Unit of the Environment Department. With a work experience in international chemicals and waste issues spanning 20 years. His expertise is particularly strong in international chemicals´ management and release control of chemicals with global effects that are restricted under various international conventions and initiatives, such as POPs and SAICM, and other global agreements.
Mr. Tyrkkö has an extensive experience working at all levels, from technical support at company level to negotiating environmental treaties, as well as developing and advising successful programmes and projects financed by international funding mechanisms. He is a former Policy Specialist at UNDP, as well as Expert at European Commission and a long experience in environmental consulting in more than 20 countries.
