Varda Taneja is currently a Vice President at Invest India with close to 9 years of experience in market – entry and business expansion strategy. She is leading investment promotion in the Europe region along with facilitation of companies in the Consumer Goods industry. Varda has led multiple public–private engagements at global platforms as a part of the outreach strategy to highlight investment opportunities and drive FDI into India. Additionally, she has also worked in close capacity with the Office of the Prime Minister of India and with senior officials from Federal Ministries and State Governments to work on policy and develop an investor outreach strategy. As a young female leader in the field of public policy, Varda has played an instrumental role in supporting and facilitating European business interests in India. In addition, she has worked on driving policy for many key industries including automotive, toys, furniture, white goods etc. These policies have been implemented with the effort to encourage the domestic industry, promote ease of doing business and drive economic growth. This was done in tandem with outreach efforts to foreign companies with an effort to help them establish base in India. She has worked with Global CEO’s of foreign companies to help them build a successful business case for an India market entry vis-à[1]vis other competing markets. Varda also led the planning and execution of business interactions of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India at various international fora such as the World Economic Forum, Davos and been a part of the accompanying delegation for other Head of State / High level Visits. Additionally, she has also represented India across multiple global platforms and events for policy discussions, panel discussions and outreach events. Varda also worked with the Government of India on the COVID19 crisis. This included support on procurement of critical medical equipment, management of state oxygen crisis and supporting districts across various states on COVID management. Her passion and efforts have won her the recognition of BusinessWorld Disrupt 30 under 30 and EuropeIndia40 leaders. Varda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Delhi, India and a M.Sc. Management & Strategy from the London School of Economics, UK.
