Kartick Satyanarayan, Co-Founder & CEO of Wildlife SOS also known as the bear man of India, for his efforts to resolve the illegal practice of ‘dancing’ bears in India. Wildlife SOS India (wildlifesos.org) runs several projects to support wildlife & biodiversity conservation in India, including the world’s largest rehabilitation centre for endangered Sloth bears & India’s first Elephant Hospital & Conservation & Care Center. Kartick was awarded the San Diego Zoo Global Conservation Medal for “Conservation in Action” and has been an invited speaker at the European Parliament in Brussels, Clinton School, USA, the University of Edinburgh and the House of Lords in London among other places. He is a TED fellow and a recipient of the IG Paryavaran Puraskar awarded by the Indian Government. Wildlife SOS combines the use of technology, field skills, women empowerment, education and partnerships with indigenous communities to find solutions for mitigating human wildlife conflicts in India.
