Biographies

Emilar Gandhi is the Head of Stakeholder Engagement for global strategic policy initiatives within the Trust and Safety Policy organisation at Meta. In this role, she establishes partnerships with external stakeholders to incorporate global expertise and integrate human rights principles into Meta’s Community Standards. Previously, Emilar served as the company’s Head of Public Policy where she led the engagement of governments, civil society, and other policy influencers and shaped Facebook’s policy agenda across sixteen countries in Africa. Before joining Facebook in 2016, Emilar spent over a decade holding senior policy roles with Civil Society Organizations at the intersection of human rights, technology, and internet governance. She is actively involved in global policy areas and previously served as Advisory Network Co-Chair of the Freedom Online Coalition. In her postgraduate studies, Emilar studied politics and focused on Governance and Political Transformation.
