Engr. Kunle Olorundare, SMIEEE, works with the Nigerian Communications Commission, the telecommunications industry regulator in Nigeria. He is experienced in ICT industry regulations, standardization, project management, internet governance, ICT product certification, system audit, emerging technologies, data governance, theory of change, online safety measures, and risk management. He is a caucus member of the elite group, Root Server System Advisory Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). He participated in the Metaverse Focus Group as Vice Chair and also championed the African Common Position on the Metaverse during the 2024 World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly.
He has well over 20 years of post-graduation experience in engineering and ICT regulations. Kunle holds a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical and electronics engineering and two master’s degrees—the first in Communications Management from Bucks New University, England, and the second, a Master of Science in Information Technology from the National Open University, Nigeria. He is a certified Business Continuity Management Auditor (ISO 22302), a certified Quality Management System Auditor (ISO 9001), a certified Agile Scrum Master, and a certified PRINCE2 Practitioner.
He has presented and published formal technical papers on various topical issues, including the Internet of Things, digital transformation, internet decolonization, the gig economy, and the metaverse. His works have been cited, with i10 and h-index ratings totaling 30 citations. He is registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria and is a member of ITU-T Study Group 11 and ITU-R WP 7C. He became a Senior Member of the IEEE, USA, in March 2018. His most recent technical paper, “Artificial General Intelligence Terrorism,” has been presented and peer-reviewed for publication on IEEE Xplore.
