Rana Kamill

IoT Ecosystems Architecture Solutions Manager, BT

Rana is a IoT ecosystems architecture solution manager in BT. She  is a seasoned standards expert who leads BT’s ITU delegation and 3GPP RAN plenary and SA1 delegation. Rana headed BT’s IoT standards and served as ITU’T SG20 Internet of things (IoT) and smart cities and communities (SC&C) Working party 1 vice chair and associate rapporteur of Q3 and Q6. She led the work oneM2M’s Security standards transposition by the ITU-T earning a technical excellence award by oneM2M.

Rana worked as a Security Consultant providing consultancy across all BT’s sectors including numerous large scale national and international projects. Prior to that Rana worked as a Radio access networks designer after finishing post graduate studies in Mobile and Wireless Networks in Queen Mary, University of London and working in Academia and the oil and gas sector.

Rana is a distinguished engineer in BT’s Tech fellowship. She recently contributed towards an IoT book which is a joint project between BT and the IET. Rana is an avid Technology speaker with regular contributions in panels and talk in various international conferences and for a including IoT Tech Expo, ETSI IoT week, ETSI security week, talks for the Indian government and industry day in Japan.  Rana regularly represents BT in the ITU-T and ITU-R, 3GPP, oneM2M and ETSI. She is keen on shaping the architecture of new technologies including 6G and on developing international telecommunication standards.
