Ask the Expert Session – Guardians of Authenticity: Battling Counterfeiting

Description

Digital transformation plays a crucial role in both perpetuating and combating the issue of counterfeiting of devices. On one hand, counterfeiters leverage advanced technologies to produce sophisticated fake products and manipulate digital platforms for distribution. On the other hand, businesses and governments are increasingly utilizing digital tools like blockchain, RFID, and advanced authentication technologies to track and verify the authenticity of products throughout the supply chain.

This Ask the expert session explored the various ITU-T standards being developed by ITU-T Study Group 11 on “Signalling requirements, protocols, test specifications and combating counterfeit telecommunication/ICT devices”, in enhancing traceability, transparency, and security, helping to safeguard consumers and brand reputations in an evolving digital landscape.
