Webinar – Scaling Impact: AI-Driven Digital Public Infrastructure for African Cities and Communities

Africa’s cities are at a pivotal moment. As AI rapidly reshapes economies and public services, the question is no longer if to act — but how to scale impact, fast and responsibly. This webinar, held as part of the ITU Digital Transformation Dialogues brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and standards experts to explore how AI-driven Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) can unlock more efficient, inclusive, and resilient cities and communities across Africa. 

Co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), the webinar will be held on 27 April 2026, from 15:30 to 17:30 CEST.

From data to decision-making, from pilots to national scale, the webinar will focus on: 

Building AI-ready public infrastructure that delivers real outcomes for people 
Avoiding fragmentation and vendor lock-in through open, interoperable approaches 
Turning standards into action to enable trusted, scalable solutions 
Showcasing real-world experiences from African cities and governments 

This is a call to move beyond experimentation — and towards coordinated, scalable implementation.

The webinar will be preceded by the ITU-T Study Group 20 Regional Group for Africa (SG20RG-AFR) meeting, taking place on the same day from 09:00 to 15:00 CEST.

Target Audience
Participation is open to the ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates, ITU Academia, and to any individual from a country that is a member of the ITU and who wishes to contribute to the work. This includes individuals who are also members of international, regional and national organizations. Participation is free of charge.
