6 thematic groups
This year the U4SSC worked across six thematic groups.
3 publications released
Over the course of the year three publications were released as part of the U4SSC initiative.
Setting a new thematic group on Digital Wellbeing
The thematic group on Digital Wellbeing aims to research and benchmark existing digital wellbeing frameworks, approaches, and interventions. Preliminary analysis indicates fragmented approaches to digital wellbeing. The thematic group will then create a digital wellbeing framework encompassing factors that contribute to it at the individual level (e.g. skills, devices, connectivity, digital services experiences, security and safety, digital environment, etc).

More cities are implementing the U4SSC KPIs
The U4SSC KPIs are a vital tool for cities wishing to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They support cities and communities worldwide in evaluating their level of smartness and sustainability. These indicators measure various aspects including economic, environmental, and social sustainability, as well as ICT accessibility, aiming to support cities in their transition towards becoming smarter and more sustainable.
Over 200 cities worldwide are already implementing these KPIs. Some of the latest cities implementing the U4SSC KPIs include Astana, Bishkek, Goris, Voznesensk, and Tbilisi.
Furthermore, ITU has published the City Snapshot and Verification Report on Anyang, Korea (Republic of).
