Summary: This Recommendation specifies comprehensive requirements for Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart school management to enhance educational effectiveness, operational efficiency, and campus safety through intelligent technologies. The device requirements encompass IoT sensing, data processing, communication and data transmission, energy and resource management, control and maintenance, and emergency preparedness capabilities. The network requirements address connectivity, coverage, and data transmission to ensure reliable IoT infrastructure. The service support and application support requirements include data storage and management, data processing and analysis, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML)-based enhancements, digital twin-based modeling, and device control and management. By establishing standardized requirements for smart school management, this Recommendation enables educational institutions worldwide to deploy interoperable, scalable, and secure IoT-based solutions across diverse school application scenarios including teaching and learning, academic affairs, school life, and safety and security, thereby enhancing educational outcomes.
