Summary: Smart manufacturing with industrial Internet of things (IIoT) technology can digitize and manage physical resources. Blockchain provides transparency and immutability of data to support the storage, tracking, management and sharing of data in smart manufacturing. This Recommendation describes a blockchain-based system for sharing industrial data in IIoT-based smart manufacturing. It also identifies security threats that may occur in IIoT-based smart manufacturing utilizing blockchain from the perspective of stakeholders in a blockchain-based industrial data sharing system (i.e., industrial data supplier, industrial data demander and distributed data sharing platform). In addition, security requirements that can counter the identified security threats are specified.
