Summary:
|
The petrochemical industry faces a growing need for automated, continuous, and comprehensive safety inspection, driven by hazardous operational environments involving high temperature, high pressure, and flammable or toxic substances that pose significant risks to personnel and assets. Traditional manual inspection methods suffer from inherent limitations in coverage, frequency, consistency, and early fault detection. The emergence of diverse vision terminals, which include track/wheel inspection robots, augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, infrared thermal cameras, optical gas imaging (OGI) cameras, fixed vision sensors, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ), together with the application of computer vision (CV) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, has made it possible to transform to transform petrochemical plant inspection from periodic manual operations to continuous, vision-based intelligent operations.
However, a standardized framework that specifically addresses the unique requirements of such heterogeneous vision-based intelligent inspection systems in petrochemical environments is currently lacking. This Recommendation fills this gap by specifying the requirements and reference framework for vision-based intelligent inspection systems deployed in petrochemical plants, covering functional architecture, vision-centric terminal requirements, inspection scenario coverage across the plant lifecycle, performance requirements, communication and data requirements, and system management requirements. It is intended to guide the design, development, deployment, and operation of such systems.
