Summary:

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools has enabled improvements on various systems, with enormous potential in smart forest firefighting systems. This document builds on ITU-T Y.4229 to present a reference functional model and requirements to guide the design, development and implementation of the AI-enabled autonomous response in forest firefighting. To this end, this work provides an overview of AI-enabled multimedia-based smart forest firefighting systems, a discussion on reference architecture and functional model for such systems, proposes requirements for them and reflects on security considerations.
