Summary:

Digital cultural and tourism services are evolving towards greater intelligence, immersion, and personalization. Tourists increasingly expect experiences with stronger presence, interactivity, and knowledge depth. However, current services remain constrained by fixed ground‑based viewpoints, limited real‑time interactivity, static data sources, and the separation of tourist services from operation management. These limitations hinder further quality improvement and prevent scalable deployment.
Extended Reality (XR) digital cultural and tourism services using civilian unmanned aerial vehicles (CUAVs) address these challenges through dynamic aerial data collection and immersive rendering, enabling flexible viewpoint switching, real-time interaction, and multi-source data sharing, and significantly enhancing the richness and depth of the sightseeing experience.
This draft new Recommendation specifies XR digital cultural and tourism services using CUAVs, and provides overview, characteristics, reference framework, functional requirements and typical use cases, so as to realize standardized, manageable and efficient deployment and delivery of relevant services.
