Summary:
|
Collaborative data processing (CDP) is the process of multiple individuals or systems working together to analyse, manipulate or extract insights from the datasets. CDP in data platforms involves complex data interactions among multiple participants, multiple stages and components. Its security protection presents higher complexity and particularity compared with standalone data processing scenarios:. First, the CDP scenario involves multiple roles including the CDP provider, data service provider, data provider and CDP customer, leading to prominent security risks in permission allocation and responsibility demarcation. Second, during the flow of data across shared workspaces, data pipelines and distributed platforms, it is exposed to security threats such as leakage during transmission, tampering and unauthorized access. Third, the core components (e.g., distributed data provenance, integrated data catalogue management, version control) of CDP lack targeted security guidelines. Forth, the collaborative operations at each layer of the data platform, including the access layer, application layer, processing layer and data source layer, require hierarchical security controls aligned with each layer’s functional specifications. Fifth, global regulatory requirements for data protection are becoming increasingly stringent, and CDP needs to meet multi-dimensional compliance requirements such as data confidentiality, integrity, availability and personal information protection.
This Recommendation systematically analyses the security risks of CDP in data platforms, defines the security responsibilities of each participant in CDP, and provides scenario-based security guidelines covering the whole process and core components of CDP in data platforms, to promote secure data sharing and collaborative innovation and facilitate the secure release of data value.
