In low-infrastructure environments, the availability of reliable power supply and energy distribution networks is often limited. IoT-based decentralized energy harvesting systems provide a promising approach to enhance energy accessibility, resilience, and sustainability under such constraints. This draft Recommendation specifies the requirements and framework of an IoT-based decentralized energy harvesting system that enables distributed collection, storage, and utilization of ambient energy from multiple sources, such as solar, vibration, and thermal gradients. By integrating IoT sensing, communication, and control technologies, the system can achieve intelligent energy management, secure data exchange, and adaptive load balancing among interconnected devices. The proposed framework supports scalability, interoperability, and fault tolerance, contributing to the sustainable development of smart communities and off-grid infrastructures.
