Summary: As the urgency to transition towards circular economy intensifies globally, digital product information systems have emerged as key enablers for sharing environmental and circularity related data. Yet, efforts to advance this field are currently fragmented. Different stakeholders such as governments, industries, and initiatives are developing diverse systems with overlapping or incompatible structures, with the risk of creating barriers to global interoperability, trade and overwhelming companies. To address this challenge, this Recommendation will define data content and coverage of that modular and scalable design of DPIS, tailored to the ICT sector. It will serve as a practical tool to translate the high-level guidelines and data requirements of the global DPIS framework into sector-specific application. This Recommendation will aim to advance the harmonized design and implementation of DPIS across ICT value chains, while preserving flexibility for national and regional contexts.
