Summary: The highway traffic risks usually come from people (traffic participants), vehicles, roads (including highway and auxiliary infrastructure), environment, and management measures. The highway traffic safety assessment (HTSA) aims to monitor, identify, analyze, and evaluate the risks related to highway traffic safety, ultimately improving the management capabilities. Considering the complexity of factors related to traffic safety, it becomes meaningful to use key performance indicators for evaluation. Information communication technologies (ICT) can play an important role in the process of HTSA.This Recommendation provides a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the context of HTSA.
