Summary: Wireless communications are a part of life in today's society. All radio-communication systems utilize electromagnetic fields (EMFs) in the radiofrequency (RF) part of the electromagnetic spectrum. RF-EMFs represent one of the most common and fastest growing environmental influences, about which there is sometimes anxiety and speculation. However, the typical level of environmental RF EMFs has not changed significantly in the last two decades despite the expansion of wireless communications in daily life. There is no scientific evidence of health hazards related to public exposure to RF-EMF below international exposure guidelines, however, among the general public in some countries there are concerns around RF-EMF exposure. This document aims at sharing countries’ experience in conducting RF EMF compliance assessments as well addressing public concerns. The document includes measurement methods, measurement conditions and compliance assessment, as well as ways of addressing public concerns including: FAQs, guidelines, etc.
