Summary: As a result of discussions across multiple questions within ITU-T SG15 on architectures for mobile optimized transport, a need has been established for multi-vendor interoperable optical interface specifications at 25 Gbit/s operating in the C band for distances of up to 20 km with 20 channels. As there are requirements for such interfaces both with and without optical amplifiers and also for port agnostic interfaces, this is expected to be accomplished via appropriate revisions of Recommendations G.698.1, G.698.2 and G.698.4 to include 25G application codes.
