ITU-T G.959.1建议书为可能采用波分复用（WDM）技术的光网络提供了物理层域间接口（IrDI）规范。光传输网（OTN）内的IrDI通过单向、点对点、单信道和多信道线路系统提供。它们的主要用途是使横向兼容接口能够跨越两个管理域之间的边界。IrDI规范包括局内、短途和长途应用，不含线路放大器。本建议书的这一版本包括适用于具有PAM4 100G的FOIC1.1-RS的单信道接口。ITU-T G.959.1建议书修正2（2024年）包括在应用代码8R1-4D1F和8I1-4D1F中增加4×FOIC1.2-RS。
