Tad Deriso

Tad Deriso is the President & CEO of the Mid-Atlantic Broadband Cooperative (MBC) with offices in Richmond and South Boston, Virginia. Over the past 20 years, Tad has helped telecommunications companies and rural, underserved communities with planning and coordinating broadband telecommunications networks. In 2003, Tad helped form MBC, a not-for-profit organization that has built an advanced open-access fibre optic network in Southern Virginia. The network, which is now in its 5th full year of operations, is cash flow positive, is helping to generate new jobs and investments in the region, and is a successful model of how public/private partnerships can work to extend advanced fibre optic middle-mile networks to underserved communities. Prior to forming MBC, Tad was a senior consultant with expertise in telecommunications infrastructure design and broadband deployment for rural regions, ICT assessments, middle-mile and last-mile broadband planning, business plan development, and financial modelling for open-access fibre network planning. Tad holds a BBA in Management and International Business from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. |

Clarence Ichwekeleza is the Director of Communications at the Ministry of Communications Science and Technology (MCST) in the United Republic of Tanzania. Clarence holds a BSc in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Ukraine State Academy of Telecommunications and an MBA from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI). Over 12 years experience in the communication sector. At the MCST successful facilitated development of the Electronic and Postal Communication Act., whereby: the network infrastructure, co-location, physical addressing system and mobile number registration have been clearly addressed as new items in the communication sector in Tanzania. Clarence was a Business Quality Manager in the Tanzania Telecomm Company for 3 years, since 2007. As a member of senior management team, responsible for formulating overall company strategic business direction, oversee implementation and review company business performance. Clarence has effectively played an instrumental role in organizational and operational transformation of TTCL into a more business and customer focused. |

Rajiv Mehrotra, a veteran of the telecom industry, is the Founder and Chairman of the Shyam group of companies – India's leading diversified telecom group. The group is involved in a wide range of successful telecom ventures, guided by his entrepreneurial vision. In 1974, as a young electronics engineer, Rajiv pioneered the manufacture of satellite TV equipment that brought cable TV to millions of village homes in India. He went on to launch Shyam Telecom, the flagship of the Shyam Group and now a leading name worldwide for mobile coverage solutions. He is also the founder of Shyam Telelink Ltd. one of the first operators in the world to deploy CDMA technology for fixed wireless services. Rajiv founded VNL (Vihaan Networks Ltd.) in 2004. VNL is based on his vision to take telecom to the next frontier - connecting the billions of unconnected across the world with affordable voice and broadband services. He sees VNL as a catalyst in the transformation of rural communities through sustainable telecom. |

Veronique Thouvenotis a recognized e-Health senior expert and head of the Millennia2015 "Women and eHealth" International Working Group. Veronique has extensive experience providing evaluation, scientific analysis and technical assistance in e-Health, e-Learning, telemedicine and gender projects implemented in developing countries.From 2002-2010, she worked with the World Health Organization as a scientist in the eHealth unit and as researcher and evaluation officer at the European Center of Humanitarian Health. She has coordinated and organized several courses and international meetings, has spoken in high level events and has numerous publications. Veronique holds an MBA in Management and Project Development from IAE, France and postgraduate diplomas in Medical Law and the Health Economy from the University of Medicine in Lyon. She earns a doctorate in Advanced Mathematics and Decision Making in Humanitarian Public Health. |
