The Role of ICT in Advancing Growth in Least Developed Countries: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities report is being published on the occasion of the Fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC-IV), to be held in Istanbul, Turkey in May 2011.


  • ICT and Telecommunications in Least Developed Countries - Mid-Term Review for the Decade 2001-2010 - Edition 2006

    The report was prepared as an input to the Mid-Term Review process of the Third United Nations Conference Programme of Action for the decade 2001-2010. The report gives a brief overview of Information and Communication Technologies/Telecommunications, market trends, policies, challenges and opportunities in LDCs. It also discusses the implementation of deliverables submitted by the International Telecommunications Union to the Third United Nations Conference for the LDCs and the resulting impact.

    The report demonstrates that progress is being made towards the attainment of universal access to ICT by LDCs and that the targets set by the Programme of Action will be met by most of the LDCs.

Two project documents are published in this publication: ICTization of Schools-cum-Communities in Bhutan and Promotion of Multipurpose Community Telecentres in rural Malawi.
