ITU and CISCO
Bangkok, Thailand, 2016, April 28
The ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and CISCO organized the Girls in ICT Day 2016 on 28thApril 2016 in Bangkok at CISCO office. Around 40 participants from various universities and schools in Thailand, ITU, CISCO, UN Women, NBTC and CAT Telecom attended the event.
Ms. Suthinee Leelahemaratana, Program Manager – Social Innovation Group (CISCO) and Mr. Ashish Narayan, Program Coordinator (ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific) gave the welcome remarks. The video message from Mr. Houlin Zhao, Secretary General, ITU on Girls in ICT Day 2016 was delivered. Ms. Anna-Karin Jatfors, Deputy Regional Director, UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific gave the keynote address.
On the occasion, the students had a tour of CISCO office, Q&A with professionals, exposure to technology and experience of remote interaction. There were online interaction sessions with women specialists (Ms. Jodie Fox, Ms. Shraddha Chaplot), who have harnessed ICTs to create a successful career / business.
