Melbourne, Australia, 2016, April 28

AusRegistry is the organisation responsible for building and operating the technology that runs Australia's 3 million .au domain names.

On April 28th AusRegistry marked Girls in ICT Day with a breakfast event in Melbourne, attended by around 40 women representing the technology, business, legal, government and education sectors. The focus of the day was to look deeper at the relationship between industry and education and to discussways in which businesses can support those engaging girls in technology at a young age.

Guests heard from Bec Spink, teacher and co-founder and Director of Code the Future - a non-profit organisation connecting schools and teachers with the technology industry to support the learning and teaching of computer science education in schools.

The breakfast was a wonderful chance for a cross-section of industries and organisations to come together and share ideas. AusRegistry is now assessing the feedback and discussions from the day in order to examine opportunities for greater support of this cause in the coming months.

The November 2016 edition of AusRegistry's industry magazine, Behind the Dot: State of the .au Domainwill examine the topic of women in technology and look deeper at the outcomes of the Girls in ICT Day breakfast, including a survey conducted of attendees to gain further insights.
