AI for Good Innovate for Impact
Our project reduces communication-related stress and social isolation among the deaf learners.
It promotes mental well-being by enabling active participation and understanding in social
and learning contexts.
Little Signs uses AI, speech recognition, and 3D animations to solve a real world problem
while contributing to the development of smart educational and communication infrastructure.
Little Signs helps bridge the communication gap between hearing and non-hearing individuals
in the educational system.
• King George the 4th Secondary School : They are our primary pilot school as they offer
education to the population of kids with disabilities .
• Potraz: is providing an infrastructure to build and test the system and make sure it is a
success
• 2.3 Future Work
• We are planning to then increase the sign language grammar and database size in the
future so as to cover a wider African population
• We are also planning on improving our NLP models to be able to choose the correct
grammar and and technical terms for different subjects.
• High-performance processors and GPUs for real-time processing.
• Cameras with high frame rates and resolution to accurately track hand and facial
movements for sign generation.
• Advanced real-time audio recognition and Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems.
• Extensive video datasets of various sign languages
• Data from real-world scenarios with users of various accents and speech patterns.
3 Use Case Requirements
• REQ 1: It is critical that we have Zimbabwean Sign Language Database, grammar and
gesture database
• REQ 2: It is critical that we have Hardware including external microphones, high-end
GPUs, high end CPUs, projectors, and projector screens
• REQ 3: It is critical that we have a linguist specializing in Sign Language
• REQ 4: It is critical that we have human resources
• REQ 5: It is critical that we have internet connectivity
