Work item: Y.NGNe-SAN-arch
Subject/title: Functional requirements and architecture of next generation network evolution (NGNe) to support service aware network
Status: Under study
Approval process: AAP
Type of work item: Recommendation
Version: New
Equivalent number: -
Timing: 2027-Q3 (Medium priority)
Liaison: ITU-T SG11, SG21
Supporting members: China Unicom, ZTE,CAICT
Summary: Based on the requirements of service aware network described in ITU-T Y.3046, further capability evolution based on NGN is required. For example, service capabilities may include the category of a target service, differentiated SLA-based service requirements for network resources, and the workload of the service instance during a specific time period. These types of information are characterized by dynamic variation and differences in how and where the information is obtained. Therefore, through mapping from capability requirements of service aware network to the functional architecture of NGNe, a detailed functional architecture with the related Reference points should be specified for clearly understanding the realization of service aware network and how it work with other systems in next generation network evolution.
