Summary:

To establish efficient GHG emission reduction strategies for Smart City in support of Net Zero strategies, it is important to establish best practices to support the accomplishment of Net Zero.
In support of existing methodologies in the L.14xx series which provide the assessment principles, the definition of net zero and the trajectories to follow, this work item will provide guidance to support the implementation of such trajectories. However, a detailed best practices for GHG emissions at a Smart City level is still lacking.
With commitments of reaching Net Zero from different countries at different points in time, in the field of ICT, ITU should provide guidance on how GHG emission reduction strategies for Smart City could best support this transition. Such guidance would provide the means for investigating the progress of Smart City GHG emission reduction in different regions and evaluate the effect of energy-saving technologies.
