Summary: As one of the key parts achieving global sustainable development, decarbonization of society is becoming more important in further three even four decades. In different industries such as power & electric, traffic, industry, home & building, it is necessary reaching Net Zero and ICT technology together with advanced technology in respective industry provide such solutions. Therefore, enablement indicator of information and communication technologies to other sectors as well as best practices for decarbonization towards Net Zero in different industries are significant important in the future. Recommendation ITU-T L.1471 “Guidance and criteria for ICT organisations on setting Net Zero targets and strategies” will provide the definition of the Net Zero in the ICT sector and guidance on how to achieve a Net Zero in the ICT sector. And the study of best practices on supporting the decarbonization of other sectors towards net Zero will be aligned with Recommendation ITU-T L.1471 and other relevant methodologies such as ITU-T L. 1480 Assessment of GHG emissions reductions enabled by ICT services in support of the Net Zero transition. Due to different opportunities for decreasing GHG emissions in different industries, it is necessary to get some indicators and guidance from best practices of advanced projects and deployments from ICT enablement, therefore it is proposed to establish this New Work Item.
