ITU-T G.8310建议书描述了使用ITU-T G.800和ITU-T G.805建议书中所述建模方法的城域传输网（MTN）的功能架构。MTN主要用于支持分布式无线接入网（DRAN）和云无线接入网（CRAN）流量的传输。从网络层面对MTN功能进行了描述，同时考虑到客户机特性信息、客户机/服务器层关联、网络拓扑以及提供复用、路由和数字客户机监视的层网络功能。MTN由两个非递归层组成：MTN路径层和MTN段层。MTN路径层使用MTN段层作为其服务器层。MTN路径层提供可配置的面向连接的连接。MTN段层的服务器层由50GBASER、100GBASER、200GBASER和400GBASER以太网接口提供。修正2更新了支持CBR客户端信号的细粒度MTN层的架构。
