Día de las Niñas en las TIC Montevideo 2013
60 niñas de alrededor de 13 años de edad de instituciones privadas y públicas fueron invitadas por ORT, Greentizen, IEEE, Ceibal y Espacio Ciencia a participar en el Primer Día Uruguayo de las Niñas en las TIC. Las niñas participaron en tres talleres diferentes. El primero era una charla motivacional de cuatro prominentes mujeres en las TIC: las Ingenieras Victoria Alonsopérez, Patricia Corbo por la ORT, Marcela Corbo por Genexus y Sylvia Chebi por Greentizen. El segundo taller fue una demostración de robótica y sensores de Ceibal en el cual las niñas aprendieron a dar órdenes a un vehículo con las Ceibalitas. Último, pero no menos importante, un módulo de E-Scientia con una animación sobre un viaje a Marte en el que las niñas construyeron cinco circuitos eléctricos diferentes, cada uno correspondiente a un aspecto diferente del viaje: Comunicaciones, Defensa, Energía, Navegación, y Soporte Vital e Ingeniería
Por la tarde, un grupo de 20 niños de 13 años visitaron la Universidad ORT Uruguay. Estuvieron presentes representantes de las instituciones organizadoras, y en esta ocasión, la charla motivacional estuvo a cargo de Martha Cambre, de Espacio Ciencia. Luego de la charla los estudiantes participaron de un Taller de Scratch, bajo la dirección experta de la Catedrática de Programación, Ines Kereki.
Girls in ICT Day Montevideo 2013
60 girls around 13 years of age from both public and private institutions were invited by ORT, Greentizen, IEEE, Ceibal and Espacio Ciencia to participate in Uruguay's First Girls in ICT Day event. The girls participated in three different workshops. The first one was an engaging talk by four prominent women in ICT: Engineers Victoria Alonsopérez, Patricia Corbo from ORT, Marcela Corbo from Genexus and Sylvia Chebi from Greentizen. The second workshop was a robotics and sensors demonstration by Ceibal in which the girls learned to give commands to a vehicle with the "Ceibalita" computers. Last but not least, an E-Scientia module with an animation featuring a voyage to Mars in which the girls were asked to build five different electrical circuits, each one consisting of a different aspect of the trip: Communications, Defence, Energy, Navigation, and Life-Support and Engineering.
In the afternoon, a group of 20 children aged 13 visited the Universidad ORT Uruguay. There were representatives from the organizing institutions, and on this occasion, the motivational talk was given by Martha Cambre, from Espacio Ciencia. After the talk the students participated in a Scratch workshop, under the expert direction of Computer Science Professor, Ines Kereki.
