BDT’s Refined Structure
Connecting the Dots
To respond to Members’ needs with impact and sustainable solutions, BDT is organised into four
functional cross-cutting departments. LDCs, SIDS and LLDCs are fully integrated into all BDT’s
work. This will improve the vital work we do and deliver the expected outcomes of WTDC-17 –
not forgetting encouraging a whole-government, people-centred approach that sustainably
benefits communities, people and countries.

Partnerships for Impact: Building Smart Villages in Niger
To connect remote areas of Niger to the benefits of the Internet and the vast opportunities it provides, the
National Agency for Information Society ANSI is collaborating with ITU and several other organizations to
implement the Smart Villages project.
ITU and Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) developed a
methodology for Niger’s Smart Village project to
guide a common cross-sector digital infrastructure.
The SDG Digital Investment Framework shows how
digital investments can address several Sustainable
Development Goal (SDG) targets simultaneously and
remain cost-effective. This new methodology is based
on a “whole-of-government” approach to delivering
services in a more integrated and coordinated manner.
Thought Leadership
Study Groups serve as a unique neutral platform where experts gather to produce relevant tools, useful
guidelines, good practices and generate innovative ideas and hands-on solutions for the benefit of all.
Engaging in the work of our Study Groups provides our Members with access to a global pool of expertise
and resources from which every country can benefit, regardless of its level of ICT development.
The work of our Study Groups is crucial in accelerating the attainment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development and supports making concrete linkages between the work we undertake through our study
questions and BDT's broader programme of work, regional initiatives and projects.
