Delivering on the Buenos Aires Action Plan
Against this backdrop, BDT will continue to deliver on the Buenos Aires Action Plan through its
thematic priorities to make a sustainable impact and advance digital transformation for all in 2020
                      and beyond.

Furthermore, 2020 will offer an opportunity to build on the adoption of new technologies and
develop and expand existing methodologies and inspire others through best practices. Together
we can continue to transform the digital era and drive the conversation towards inclusive digital
                      transformation.

Partnerships for Impact: e-Agriculture in Papua New Guinea
Following the Government of Papua New Guinea’s commitment to adopt a strategic approach to transform
the agricultural sector through the integration of digital technologies - ITU developed a pilot project in
collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Jiwaka province.

The aim is to identify accessible and affordable technological solutions to boost productivity in the agricultural
sector, and generate new opportunities for employment and income for rural communities.

Following the partnership Papua New Guinea is better positioned to harness ICTs for agricultural
transformation into the future. Furthermore, the integration of the blockchain technology in traceability
offers exciting opportunities in the digital landscape with greater transparency, enhanced security and
                 increased confidence and integrity.

                                                   Youth Engagement
Today, 50% of the world is aged under 30. Involving young people is particularly important to the work of
ITU. We must ensure that they have access to ICTs and are included in policy discussions. Young people are
the ones who will inherit the world that technology is now shaping. It is vital that we hear their voices, listen
to what they want from technology and they become part of the solution to the challenges the world is facing.

In January 2020, ITU will welcome over 700 secondary-school students from 25 countries worldwide to
participate in the “Global Young Visionaries Summit” where youth-oriented consultations aim to bring the
voices of young people to all major ITU development discussions and activities.
