  This Recommendation defines service definition and requirements to support mobile IP services through the MPLS network. It also describes the service architecture and application procedures to provide the mobility service over the MPLS network.

• Recommendation Y.2001 (12/04) - General overview of NGN
  

  The concept of an NGN (Next Generation Network) has been introduced to take into consideration the new realities in the telecommunications industry, characterized by factors such as: competition among operators due to ongoing deregulation of markets, explosion of digital traffic, e.g., increasing use of "the Internet", increasing demand for new multimedia services, increasing demand for a general mobility, convergence of networks and services, etc. The target of NGN is to ensure that all elements required for interoperability and network capabilities support applications globally across the NGN while maintaining the concept of separation between transport, services and applications. The scope of this Recommendation is to give a general overview of what constitutes and defines a Next Generation Network (NGN). More specifically, this Recommendation identifies the fundamental characteristics and capabilities that an NGN should be able to support. This Recommendation is intended to be used as background information to assist the development of Recommendations, standards and of implementation guidelines for the realization of Next Generation Networks.

• Recommendation Y.2002 (10/09) - Overview of ubiquitous networking and of its support in NGN
  

  This Draft Recommendation specifies basic concept and objectives of ubiquitous networking in NGN and also describes fundamental characteristics and design principles including architectural model and enhanced capabilities.

• Recommendation Y.2012 (09/06) - Functional Requirements and Architecture of the NGN of Release 1
  

  The objective of this Recommendation is to describe the functional requirements and architecture of the Next Generation Network (NGN) for release 1, as described in Recommendation Y.2201 (NGN release 1 requirements) and the Supplement 1 to Y.2000-series Recommendations (NGN release 1 scope). The functional architecture provided in this Recommendation allows a clear distinction between the definition and specification aspects of services provided by the NGN and the actual specification of the network technologies used to support those services. In line with Y.2011 principles, an implementation-independent approach is adopted.

• Recommendation Y.2014 (03/10) - Network attachment control functions in next generation networks
  

  This Recommendation describes the network attachment control functions (NACF) component of the NGN functional architecture. This Recommendation also identifies relevant access scenarios related to the NACF. In particular, this edition includes extensions to Recommendation ITU-T Y.2014 (2008) to address the issues related to multicast and mobility in support of IPTV service and mobility service, respectively.

• Recommendation Y.2017 (09/09) - Multicast functions in next generation networks
  

  The objective of this Recommendation is to describe the multicast functions in Next Generation Networks (NGN) taking into account the capabilities and functional requirements provided in draft Recommendation Y.ngn-mcastsf (Framework for NGN support of multicast based services).

• Recommendation Y.2018 (09/09) - Mobility management and control framework and architecture within the NGN transport stratum
  

  This document specifies the architecture and functional requirements for the management of logical location information (as defined by 6.3.2/[ITU-T Q.1707]) and control of mobility in the NGN transport stratum. It addresses all types of device mobility as defined in [ITU-T Q.1706]. It draws heavily from [ITU-T Q.1707], [ITU-T Q.1709], and [ITU-T Q.1708], but maps their content into the framework provided by [ITU-T Y.2012].

• Recommendation Y.2021 (09/06) - IMS for Next Generation Networks
  

  The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) as specified by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and the 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) has been adopted to support session and other Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based services This recommendation describes how the IMS can be used in the NGN context following the fundamental principles described in Y.2001 and Y.2011. This document identifies the IMS for use in NGN and describes the use of IMS in providing the IP Multimedia Service component of the NGN functional architecture and its relationships to other service components. It further identifies those IMS architecture documents that are relevant in the context of NGN. For more detail refer to ITU-T Recommendation Y.2012, NGN functional architecture.

• Recommendation Y.2201 (09/09) - Requirements and capabilities for ITU-T NGN
  

  This ITU-T Recommendation provides high level requirements for services and capabilities of a Next Generation Network (NGN).

• Recommendation Y.2211 (10/07) - IMS-based real time conversational multimedia services over NGN
  

  NGN Release 1 makes provision for a category of services which are referred to as real-time conversational multimedia services [ITU-T Y.SerSup1]. These include PSTN/ISDN simulation services and other services. When these real-time conversational multimedia services are provided by using an IMS-based service environment, the implementations will use SIP protocol between the Service Support Functions and the Service Control Functions [ITU-T Y.2012] [ITU-T Y.2021]. IMS based NGNs which meet these service requirements will be capable of supporting real-time conversational multimedia services with new service features as well as allowing for new implementation scenarios. This Recommendation defines the service requirements, service features, service architecture, and implementation scenarios of IMS based real-time conversational multimedia services.

• Recommendation Y.2221 (01/10) - Requirements for support of ubiquitous sensor network (USN) applications and services in the NGN environment
  

  This Recommendation provides a description and general characteristics of Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) and USN applications and services. It also analyzes service requirements of USN applications and services, and specifies extended or new NGN capability requirements based on the service requirements.

• Recommendation Y.2234 (09/08) - Open service environment capabilities for NGN
  

  This Recommendation describes open service environment (OSE) capabilities for NGN. OSE capabilities are built on NGN release 1 capabilities [ITU-T Y.2201] with the aim to enable enhanced, flexible service creation and provisioning. This framework requires use of standard interfaces to ensure NGN OSE based service reusability, portability across networks, as well as accessibility by NGN application providers and/or developers. OSE capabilities enable applications development using NGN OSE based services for exposing the NGN capabilities. This Recommendation provides service requirements, functional requirements and architecture of open service environment capabilities.

• Recommendation Y.2236 (09/09) - Framework for NGN support of multicast-based services
  

  This Recommendation provides a framework for NGN support of multicast based services. In particular, it provides general descriptions of NGN multicast capabilities and functional requirements for each functional group of the NGN architecture.

• Recommendation Y.2237 (01/10) - Functional model and service scenarios for QoS-enabled mobile VoIP service
  

  The mobile VoIP service is provided by application of L2 MAC layer authentication and make- before- break based seamless mobility in service control layer, and different user terminal voice codec is matched by codec translation from codec gateway to user terminal. Until now, the main services of mobile WiMAX and WiFi have been Internet services, and the main services of 3G have been circuit based voice service, packet based data and video service. The Currently VoIP service access via mobile WiMAX or WiFi is under consideration, so the proposed functional model, service scenario and use case in this Recommendation provides guidelines for QoS assurance enabled mobile VoIP service among WiFi, 3G, and mobile WiMAX networks, for .VoIP service access via mobile WiMAX or WiFi or 3G is under consideration.

• Recommendation Y.2251 (03/11) - Multi-connection requirements
  

  In order to support multi-connection capability new functions are required in the user equipment (UE) and network, such as connection management and coordination, QoS policy control, and access network selection. This Recommendation describes the requirements to support multi-connection.

• Recommendation Y.2281 (01/11) - Framework of networked vehicle services and applications using NGN
  

  This Recommendation describes the framework of networked vehicle services and applications in the context of next generation network (NGN). This Recommendation identifies the relationship between NGN and a networked vehicle as well as requirements taking into consideration the necessity of supporting networked vehicle services and applications using NGN. In addition, a framework architecture of NGN capable networked vehicle and intelligent transport systems (ITS) infrastructure is described to support the communication features of an NGN harmonized with the networked vehicle.

• Recommendation Y.2740 (01/11) - Security requirements for mobile remote financial transactions in next generation networks
  

  Within the last few years, a great variety of remote payment networks using mobile networks have been established. While implementing different approaches, quite often they lack of security. At the same time communication networks, including mobile networks, yield substantial changes undergoing transition to the next generation networks (NGN). Recommendation ITU-T Y.2740 elaborates approaches to develop system security for mobile commerce and mobile banking in the next generation networks (NGN). It describes security requirements for the mobile commerce and the mobile banking systems, based on four specified security levels. It outlines probable risks in mobile commerce and mobile banking systems, and specifies means for risk reduction.

• Recommendation Y.2741 (01/11) - Architecture of secure mobile financial transactions in next generation networks
  

  Recommendation ITU-T Y.2741 specifies the general architecture of a security solution for mobile commerce and mobile banking in the context of NGN. It describes the key participants, their roles, and the operational scenarios of the mobile commerce and mobile banking systems. It also provides examples of the implementation models of mobile commerce and mobile banking systems.

• Recommendation Y.2760 (05/11) - Mobility security framework in NGN
  

  This Recommendation specifies the mobility security framework in NGN transport stratum. It addresses the security requirements, security mechanisms and procedures for mobility management and control in NGN.

• Reccomendation Y.2807 (01/09) - MPLS-based mobility capabilities for NGN services
  

  This Recommendation describes MPLS-based mobility capabilities in an NGN environment where the MPLS technology is deployed in the NGN core IP network. The MPLS-based mobility capabilities seek to provide QoS enabled mobility support in NGN. This Recommendation identifies service requirements, functional requirements, functional architecture and mobility scenarios for support of QoS enabled terminal mobility in NGN using MPLS-based capabilities.

• Supplement 1 to the Y.2000-series Recommendations (07/06) - NGN Release 1 Scope
  

  This Supplement to ITU-T Y.2000-series Recommendations on the scope of release 1 of the Next Generation Networks (NGN) provides the release 1 environment, release 1 services, descriptions and use cases.

• Recommendation Y.Sup9 (01/10) - ITU-T Y.2000-series – Supplement on multi-connection scenarios
  

  Supplement 9 to ITU-T Y-series Recommendations describes the scenarios, use cases and benefits of multi-connection, in which a user equipment keeps more than one network connection simultaneously. Multi-connection brings a number of benefits compared to the single connections currently available. This supplement provides the basis for development of requirements and development of an architecture that supports multi-connection.

• Recommendation Y.Sup14 (01/11) - ITU-T Y.2000-series – Service scenarios over FMC
  

  One of the essential benefits of the NGN is a supporting of convergences such as a fixed mobile convergence (called FMC), telecom-broadcasting converged service like IPTV. ITU-T produced several Recommendations on FMC and IPTV, especially in the ITU-T Y.2000 series of Recommendations. ITU-T is developing more detailed aspects of supporting the FMC, taking consideration of the fact that various services are waiting to utilize the FMC as their service infrastructure, which will extend their service coverage as well as give more benefits to the user. This Supplement to the ITU-T Y.2000-series Recommendations on the scope of service scenarios over the FMC provides service scenarios which are used over FMC. This Supplement uses the features of involved key elements of FMC to guide how services can be provided in detail. This Supplement also introduces overall configurations and scenario models to identify service scenarios over the FMC.

• Recommendation Y.3001 (05/11) - Future networks: Objectives and design goals
  

  This Recommendation describes objectives and design goals for Future Networks (FNs). In order to differentiate FNs from existing networks, four objectives are identified, which are service-, data-, environment-, and social and economic awareness. In order to realize the objectives, twelve design goals are identified, which are service diversity, functional flexibility, virtualization of resources, data access, energy consumption, service universalization, economic incentives, network management, mobility, optimization, identification, reliability and security. This Recommendation assumes that the target timeframe for FNs fall approximately between 2015 and 2020. In the appendix, this Recommendation describes technologies elaborated in recent research efforts that are likely to be used as an enabling technology of each design goal.

• Recommendation Y.miptv-req (Under study) - Functional requirements of Mobile IPTV
  

  This recommendation describes detailed functional requirements of mobile IPTV for relevant aspects such as service, network, media coding, mobility, security, QoS/QoE and terminal device aspects. These functional requirements are used to develop detailed specifications for functional components of mobile IPTV. [Editor's Note] Text below (in italic) has been developed by the drafting team in the January 2011 meeting (based on outcome of joint Q1, Q3, Q14 session on MIPTV in this January meeting), but it has not been reviewed by the meeting. It is captured here to invite further contributions to the next meeting towards the update of this clause. This Recommendation describes the functional requirements for the provisioning of IPTV services to a mobile IPTV terminal (ITF) or terminals. Included in this Recommendation are the relevant aspects including media coding, mobility, security, subscriber identity, QoS/QoE, session transfer, service control and other terminal device aspects. NOTE - Functional requirements provided in this Recommendation are provided as a delta to the IPTV requirements already specified in existing ITU-T Recommendations such as Rec. Y.1901. These functional requirements are to be used to develop detailed specifications for additional functional components required for the support of IPTV services to mobile IPTV terminals (ITF). • Recommendation Y.MCC-arch (Under study) - Functional requirements and architecture for the NGN for Multimedia Communication Centre service
  

  This draft recommendation based on [ITU-T Y.2012] covers extended features in order to support applications and services of for Multimedia Communication Centre. This draft recommendation describes functional requirements, functional architecture and functional entities in order to support the NGN service requirements and capabilities. This draft recommendation covers:

  • Support of requirements and capabilities defined in [ITU-T Y.2216] from an architectural viewpoint;
  • Functional requirements of the NGN architecture to support applications and services of Multimedia Communication Centre;
  • Functional architecture and entities extensions for applications and services of Multimedia Communication Centre.

• Recommendation Y.MC-ID (Under study) - Identification and configuration of resources for Multi-Connection
  

  The Recommendation describes identification of resources and attributes given by different types of connections simultaneously at the UE side. The identification of resources has to be configured in order to achieve utilization and harmonization through interaction between the multi-connection UE and the multi-connection functional entities. • Recommendation Y.UbiNet-hn (Under study) - Framework of object-to-object communication for ubiquitous networking
  

  This Recommendation describes concept and requirements of object-to-object communication for ubiquitous networking and present several technical considerations for identification of all objects and providing connectivity to them. This Recommendation also presents considerations for applications/services. Expected completion - 4Q/2011

  • Recommendation Y.FNid (Under study) - Framework of identifiers in future networks
    

  This document specifies the important objects requiring new identification identifiers in future networks (FNFNs), describes by presenting a brief analysis on the identification structures of being used in the existing networks and considered for on-going future network FNFNs related works as well as exisitng in many ongoing research activities. Networks, and, based On the basis of the analysis, it specifies requirements and the general framework and generic requirements for identification identifiers to be used in future network FNs. Expected completion - 4Q/2012

• Recommendation Y.MM-VPN (Under study) - Mobile management architecture and scenarios for mobile VPN services
  

  There are several types of VPN service such as remote access VPN (or client-to-server VPN), site-to-site VPN, and community-based VPN, etc. This Recommendation is focusing on the mobile VPN services which mobile UEs (MUEs) are directly involved in; remote access VPN and community-based VPN. The IP-based mobility protocol for mobile VPN service in this draft Recommendation is assumed to be host-based mobility protocol. VPN tunnel for VPN service is provided through the tunnelling mechanisms which have been defined for host-based mobility protocols, and security is also provided through various security association mechanisms between MUE and its peer nodes (another MUE or VPN gateway). • Recommendation Y.MM-WAU (Under study) - Mobility management for interworking between WiMax and UMTS
  

  This Recommendation describes the mobility management (MM) architecture between WiMAX and UMTS technologies in Next Generation Networks (NGN). This work has been motivated from the observation that NGN continues to evolve toward the accommodation of various wireless access technologies, and thus Accordingly, it seems the detailed architecture and procedures are required to practically apply the NGN MM framework for NGN to harmonize the environment accommodating those various access technologies. The MM architecture in this Recommendation is designed on the basis of MM framework for NGN, which is described in the series of following Recommendations:

  • Rec. Q.1707/Y.2084: Generic Framework of Mobility Management for NGN;
    
  • Rec. Q.1708/Y.2805: Framework of Location Management for NGN;

• Recommendation Y.MMC (Under study) - Mobility Management Framework for Multicast Communications in NGN
  

  The objective of this draft Recommendation is to describe the mobility management capabilities to support multicast based services in NGN. Specifically, this draft Recommendation pursues network-based mobile multicast support, where multicast is handled without involvement from the user equipment during handover. This draft Recommendation identifies design issue, functional architecture and information flows for support of network-based mobile multicast services in NGN. This Recommendation builds on general mobility management functionalities described in [ITU-T Q.1707/Y.2804] and multicast functionalities described in [ITU-T Y.2017]. Expected completion - 4Q/2011

• Recommendation Y.MMS (Under study) - Mobility management control scenarios for NGN
  

  ITU-T Recommendation Q.1707 [Q.1707] defines general framework of mobility management in NGN and its companion Recommendations Q.1708, Q.1709, and Y.MMCF describes the location management, and handover control, mobility management and control framework, respectively. This Recommendation describes an end-to-end mobility service control scenarios for NGN which based on the optimal interworking with NGN functions, especially interworking with MMCF and SCF. Besides, the mobility service control scenarios between 3GPP users and non-3GPP users based on the Y.MMCF function will be provided. Finally, new or extended functions for NACF, MMCF, RACF, and SCF will be identified for implementable mobility service control based on the mobility service control scenarios. • Recommendation Y.MobileP2P (Under study) - Mobility supporting architecture for mobile P2P service in heterogeneous wireless networks
  

  This Recommendation describes the mobility supporting architecture for mobile P2P service in heterogeneous wireless networks including UMTS, WiMAX and WLAN. The three access networks may or may not be operated by same service provider. The functional architecture that provides service continuity of mobile P2P users changing access points between UMTS, WiMAX and WLAN network is described. Expected completion - 2011

• Recommendation Y.SMF (Under study) - Framework of Mobility Management in Service Stratum for NGN
  

  This Recommendation describes the framework of mobility management (MM) in Service Stratum for Next Generation Networks (NGN), which includes the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) based MM as well as non-IMS based MM. This Recommendation identifies the functional architecture of MM in the NGN Service Stratum, and specifies the procedural information flows for location management and handover control based on the identified functional architecture.
